We all know the joy that pet dogs bring to our lives. At Calluna Canines, we’re passionate about ensuring that every rescue pet gets to experience that joy, and that every pet parent receives the support they need to provide a safe and enriching home for their adopted pet. That's why we're excited to announce that since September 2023 we’ve been volunteering with Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue!
We’ve been helping to coordinate homes within our local region (Region 9) and helping foster homes nationwide with all and every behavioural struggle the lovely French Bulldogs in their care are having.
And guess what? You'll get to meet these furry friends too! Stay tuned to see their heartwarming stories and discover how we will make a big difference for both French Bulldogs in foster awaiting their forever homes; along with new the pet parents who have just adopted.
How Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue saves lives Nationwide.
Animal shelters and rescues like Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue aren't just feel-good organisations that provide an outlet for the charitable drive of animal lovers. They provide a nationwide public service as a place to call for help when a lost, stray, or injured animal appears in your life.
Currently, Phoenix isn’t accepting new surrenders of French Bulldogs due to a shortage of the volunteer foster homes needed to support the dogs coming in. However, they will never turn their backs on a Frenchie in need and regularly receive calls from dog pounds across the country who have found stray French Bulldogs that haven’t been claimed by their owners. These dogs only have 7 days to be claimed in the pound before they are put to sleep. Fortunately, staff members within the pounds contact breed specific rescues to try to find spaces for the dogs in their care instead of putting healthy dogs to sleep. When one of these calls comes in, the Phoenix team spring into action. They immediately begin looking for foster homes for these dogs in desperate need. There are many calls each month, becoming more frequent as each month goes by and not once has a Frenchie been put down on Phoenix’s watch. Not all superheroes wear capes!
Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue has been helping Frenchies in need here in the UK since 2017. Pipkin was the very first ‘offical’ rescue following the acquisition of charity status so of course that meant he would be the ‘Face of Phoenix’.
He also really summed up why we do what we do – a poor, sad little chappy… who is now healthy, loved, and now famous!
Already in 2024, Phoenix have admitted 149 dogs into the rescue, despite the current embargo on surrenders!
Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue provides these incredible services:
● Offering advice and support to owners in need to keep their dogs in their homes
● Delivering training and behavioural support for dogs in their care
● Providing lifelong support for the dogs that have been adopted from them
● Regularly rehoming English Bulldogs, Pugs, French Bulldog crosses and even the odd Pocket Bully too
● Dealing with any medical issues of the dogs in their care
● Transporting dogs as far down as Cornwall or even up to Scotland to get them to their perfect forever homes
● Having regional teams in all areas of the UK ready and willing to help dogs in need
...and countless other services that help French Bulldogs.
